FAQs

1. Who is WK Stone?
  • WK Stone is an Australian, family owned, stone distributor who commenced operations in 1989.
  • The business initially sold natural stone, introduced Quantum Quartz engineered stone in 2000 and large format porcelain sheets in 2015.
2. What is the engineered stone ban all about?
  • The Federal government announced a ban on engineered stone effective 30 June 2024. The ban involves the importation and fabrication of engineered stone.
  • The ban is a result of a few stone fabricators working with a high crystalline silica product who ignored basic dust suppression and PPE protocols
3. What is QUANTUM ZERO?
  • Quantum Zero Recycled Surfaces will replace Quantum Quartz engineered stone.
  • Quantum Zero contains <1% crystalline silica and is exempt from the engineered stone ban as agreed by State and Territory Industrial Relations Ministers.
  • An SDS and other technical details are available on wkstone.com.au
4. What will QUANTUM ZERO look like compared to the superseded Quantum Quartz?
  • Quantum Zero will look, feel and perform like Quantum Quartz.
  • We have colour matched 34 popular Quantum Quartz colours with no more than a shade/batch variation in Quantum Zero.
  • More colours will be added to our offering by the end of the year.
5. What is QUANTUM ZERO made of?
  • The prominent ingredients are premium recycled glass (79-90%) and up to15% high grade resin.
  • The ingredients of Quantum Zero contain no crystalline silica.
6. Is the old Quantum Quartz still safe installed in my kitchen?
  • Quantum Quartz is 100% safe in a fabricated state. The only risk comes from dry cutting the stone and inhaling dust particles over a prolonged period of time.
  • The business initially sold natural stone, introduced Quantum Quartz engineered stone in 2000 and large format porcelain sheets in 2015.
7. Can I get QUANTUM ZERO colour samples?
  • We have many 100's of thousands of samples in the marketplace currently. The impossible task of retrieving these samples and the cost of resampling means that we will continue with Quantum Quartz samples in the near future. There will be no more than the usual shade/batch variation between the two items.
  • New Quantum Zero samples will gradually enter the marketplace as more samples are required.
  • Anyone is free to visit our showrooms to view a full slab of the currently stocked material.
8. Is there a warranty on QUANTUM ZERO?
  • Yes, Quantum Zero carries the same 10 year warranty as the Quantum Quartz did.
